My reasons were that first, default unitframes just don't have enough customization going for them. And Edit mode lacks quite a lot of features. While action bars look good and get the job most of the time, they are not as flexible as weakauras. Default glow is also awful, not sure if there is an addon to change it. My WoW buddy uses a UI addon which shows a unit frame for the target of his focus target, which is handy when you're trying to figure out exactly who your tank is targeting, etc. I use ElvUI and would like this display as well.
